5.0 out of 5 stars the least compromise, May 4, 2009

Everything you buy is a compromise - cars, boats, homes and yes, watches. This watch when equipped with the stainless band is dressy enough for all occassions. I have several luminox watches and this one by far is the easiest to read both in daylight or darkness. I set it to a atomic watch each month and it is never any more than 5 to 10 seconds in error. Of all my 24 watches this is by far my favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch, but.........., January 22, 2010
This review is from: Luminox Men's A.1828 Field Time Date Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
This is a great looking watch. Nice workmanship and the luminosity is a very nice feature. My only complaint, and I've heard this from other owners of this watch, is that the second hand does not fall on the second notches. It seems that this would be an easy fix by Luminox and it really looks that their quality control would pick this detail up. If they fix this flaw, then this watch would easily deserve five stars.

I have to confess that I have a bit of an obsession with watches. While my tastes run in the Omega, Tag Heuer and Panerai range, my budget tends to be prohibitive. Consequently, I have "settled" for Swiss Army, Wenger and other watches that I felt had similar looks. These other brands have performed decently for years and served me well. The primary flaw of all of the others, though, has been the illuminated hands and markings. You would have to "charge" them by holding them up to the light in order to see them in full darkness. This "charge" would fade away in front of my eyes. Sidenote: if I have access to a light nearby, why do I need hands that glow? Enter the Luminox Field watch. It's solid, the layout is crystal clear and their patented illumination is ALWAYS BRIGHT. It never needs "charging". I chose to replace the original band with an Italian rubber deployment-type band, not because of I didn't lime the original, but in Florida, I tend to sweat during the day and I didn't... Read more
