I have another Citizen watch that is 11 years old and still runs fine, so decided to stick with the brand for this purchase. This is my first eco drive powered watch. A few notes on the picture: The bracelet is much more polished and shiny than indicated--the outer links very polished, with a slightly brushed look on the inner. The case is about the size of a quarter, which makes the face readable without being too large. The dial has a slightly feminine appearance. The mother of pearl dial on this watch looks more silver-ish than blue-ish in regular light which blends well with the band. In brighter light or when you move it around, it shimmers with a pale blue iridescence which is striking. The minute and hour hands glow a neon blue in the dark (the five minute markers have a dot above them that also glows). This effect does not last long--however it is a fun extra while it lasts. It has an extremely high polished shine. Too shiny by far for me. The middle part of the band is very slightly brushed. And the bezel raised markers ar too prominent. I really wanted an Eco-drive watch with a mother-of-pearl face. But this was not it. I thought it looked more like an inexpensive fashion watch than a nice biz or casual watch. My quest for a nice mother-of-pearl face watch continues. I am not really a girly girl so I wanted something that was not ultra-feminine. I really like it and all the extras: the mother of pearl face, the glow in the dark hands, the date, the eco-drive, and the toughness. It was a great gift. I have worn it everyday since February. I recently bought a swatch watch for fun but I missed my citizen watch too much. I was originally given the one with the diamonds all around the face but that was too much for me. |
